Everton fell to defeat at the hands of Premier League title favourites Manchester City on Saturday, sinking to a 3-1 loss at the Etihad Stadium.
A brace from Gabriel Jesus and an effort from Raheem Sterling, who netted shortly after Dominic Calvert-Lewin put Everton on the scoresheet, meant that Marco Silva’s side have now failed to win any of their last four matches.
That has seen the likes of Wolves, West Ham, Bournemouth, Watford and Leicester City pull within touching distance to the Toffees and leaves plenty of room for improvement, with further investment in the January transfer window necessary.
With a clash against Tottenham next up, there is every chance that Everton’s struggles will continue and fans were left displeased by their side’s approach to the game against Pep Guardiola’s side at the weekend.
Many further pressed the need for a new striker and believed the performance was not up to scratch, regardless of the fact that City were firm favourites for the tie.
We have gathered some of their comments below.
#Weneedastriker…..if we did it would be very different I think…

Efficiency the key word here, cant afford to gift teams like city goals and when we get chances like we had today we have to be more clinical, no excuses.

The missed opportunity to put out a competitive line up. Sometimes the buck stops with the manager.

I guess this Is because we don’t have an striker when we realize this and finally get a proper one we could compete against the big ones not having a fake 9

Too much respect for them yesterday. Defending was really poor. Mina sloppy, Pickford beaten on front post, not stopping the crosses! We did the basics badly. We will also create chances with this manager but we need to start taking them. Too early to judge Silva. It takes time!

I watched the first half. Embarrassing the way they weren’t even competitive. Down under fan since mid 80s but nigh on had enouugh now thanks to the Kenwrights and their lack of ambition. Pathetic.

Missed Idrissa in the midfield. Should have stuck to 4,3,3. Back 3 were not sure of their space n area of responsibility. Gylfi was also played out of position n was ghosting around. Should have played Tom Davies from the start to protect the midfield. Need a new finisher.
