In Saturday’s early Premier League kickoff in front of the broadcasting cameras, Everton made the trip to the Etihad Stadium to face off against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side.

It was always set to be an incredibly difficult encounter as the quality of their squad speaks for itself, and a brace from Gabriel Jesus and an effort from Raheem Sterling gave them a 3-1 win on the day, extending their home run to ten wins on the trot.

Everton weren’t really at the races and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s effort in the 65th minute was only a consolation.

The performance itself, with so many errors, will be the main disappointment.

Statistics website Whoscored weren’t very generous with their player ratings by the ever-reliable Lucas Digne again took the top score for us with 7.63 given his efforts at both ends of the pitch.

Calvert-Lewin (6.93), Ademola Lookman (6.91), Theo Walcott (6.64) and Michael Keane (6.42) completed the top five best performers on the day but plenty of fans will be wondering if we can bottle Digne and spread him around the rest of the pitch given his consistency.
