The Swiss international is caught up in a contract wrangle with his current club Real Betis which could potentially scupper a move away from the Spanish club.
It would appear that Everton were hoping to sign the experienced former AC Milan midfielder on a free transfer, something Betis were more than happy to let happen, however interest in the player has increased and now club president Manuel Ruiz de Lopera would like a cash fee for Vogel should he leave.
Vogel’s agent told skysports.com, ‘We are waiting to see if we can agree a deal with Betis,’
‘Things have been held up on their side.
‘We have had a good proposition from Everton and I am very optimistic about the move to Everton.
‘Johan is keen to come to England and Everton are in the Uefa Cup next season.’
Vogel would represent a fabulous coup on David Moyes part, having played in over 80 internationals for his country as well as being experienced in european football.
