Former Premier League footballer (somehow) Troy Deeney has been speaking about Jordan Pickford on Ben Foster’s YouTube page.
I know what you’re all thinking. Who gives a hoot about what Troy Deeney has had to say, but here is a snippet.
Never got this shout, especially from a ex-player? Pickford has been immense for Everton the last two years – do your research if you’re going to talk about it publicly 🤣 pic.twitter.com/lYLR8utqRb

Now, everyone is allowed to have an opinion, which is fair. But for Deeney to come out with those (in my opinion) absolute spew of lies is ridiculous. In the last two years, Sunday was probably Pickford’s worst game as he could/should have done better with both goals and Ben Foster believes Pickford will agree with him, which is when Troy Deeney chirped up.
We all know as Evertonians, that if Pickford ever “played up” to the Goodison crowd, they would let him know straight away to give it a rest, and, strangely, Deeney has said these things as not only did Jordan Pickford get save of the season last season, but only today was he awarded save of the month.
An incredible save in a massively important fixture, Jordan Pickford won the @castrol Save of the Month for September thanks to this top effort! 🙌 pic.twitter.com/MuEUol8Dv7

In the clip at the beginning of the article, Deeney is asked who he would have as England’s number one for the World Cup, and his response is.
“As it stands, Ramsdale. I think Ramsdale has developed into a really good goalkeeper.”
This is true, Ramsdale has had a fantastic season at Arsenal and is one of the reasons they sit top of the table at the moment, but this is also the same keeper that without fail plays up to the crowd at every chance he gets. Prime example, last season when taking a goal kick at Leicester. As he has kicked the ball and the Leicester fans chanted (not a politely) he wasn’t very good… aaahhhh. He turned and gave them a fist pump and joined in with them.
There is nothing wrong with a goalkeeper interacting with the crowd as long as he does his job first, but for Troy Deeney to say that he genuinely believes Pickford is that sort of keeper, speaks volumes and shows he hasn’t watched a single Everton game since pre-lockdown.
