Transfer report suggests Ancelotti is ready to get ruthless with Pickford: Opinion

|

It looks as though occupying ourselves with transfer rumours is going to have to be the way forward at the moment with the Premier League suspended until the start of April at the very earliest.

Fortunately, though, Everton are expected to be one of the busiest in the summer window – whenever it opens – and they’ve been linked recently with goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha.

Is Pickford still England's #1?

Il Tempo – via Sport Witness – reported the news at the end of last week and it ignites the obvious thought process that Carlo Ancelotti is set to get ruthless with current number one Jordan Pickford.

Initially a good signing from Sunderland and one Blues felt boosted by, things have got tough for England’s number one and some high-profile mistakes have led to questions being asked over him.

Indeed, this report – if it is proven to be correct – would suggest that Ancelotti has had enough and wants to shake things up between the sticks by signing a goalkeeper that has been in tremendous form this season.

Despite the current hiatus in top-level football, we are at a point in the season where the standings paint a representative picture of how each team is set to fare in the final weeks.

For Lazio, this year has been a triumph with them playing nice attacking stuff but also boasting the best defensive record in Serie A.

They’ve conceded just 23 goals and in goal has been Strakosha for all 26 games, underlining his ability when it comes to keeping the ball out of the net.

It would be an ambitious move if the Blues got him, particularly if Lazio won the league in Italy, but it’s one that would underline Ancelotti’s ruthless streak as the Toffees look for the best talent to kick up the league themselves.
