Everton are in talks with Crystal Palace over a January deal for Cenk Tosun to join Roy Hodgson’s Selhurst Park natives for the remainder of the season, according to Sky Sports.

Tosun is keen to revitalise his career after spending the first six months of the campaign on the fringes at Goodison Park, fearing that his place in Senol Gunes Turkey side for this summer’s Euro 2020 tournament may otherwise be at risk.

Super Lig giant Fenerbahce had been credited with an interest in taking the £60,000-per-week striker back to his native country this month as interest mounts in the 28-year-old, who Sky understand does not currently plan on returning to the Turkish league.

Tosun would prefer to remain in the English top-flight or move to the German Bundesliga if his immediate future is not on Merseyside, where he has been awarded just two starts in a possible 21 Premier League games under the tenures of Marco Silva, Duncan Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti this season.

Ancelotti has so far only named Tosun on the bench for league games since taking charge at Goodison Park last month, and omitted the 42-cap Turkey striker from his 18-man matchday squad for last Sunday’s FA Cup derby with Liverpool.

Palace boss Hodgson is striving to acquire at least one centre-forward during the mid-season market, as while his Eagles side are ninth in the top-flight standings, his players can only boast 19 goals in 21 games – the second-worst record.

Would you block Tosun joining Palace on loan?

Yes

No

Securing a deal for Tosun to head to Selhurst Park until at least the summer would do little to hinder our efforts under Ancelotti, who has continued to back Dominic Calvert-Lewin thus far.

Calvert-Lewin is also enjoying the best run of form of his Everton career with eight goals in 19 Premier League appearances – eclipsing his career-best haul of six goals in a season recorded during the 2018/19 campaign.

Seeing Tosun move out on loan may also increase our chances of cashing in on the forward, signed for £27million in January 2018, should no side decide to offer a permanent deal this month.

Tosun has been an outright flop in Royal Blue, as beyond failing to establish himself under three head coaches this season, his best numbers in front of the goal came during his first six months at Goodison Park under Sam Allardyce – striking five in 14 league games.

We will need to see something change soon with Tosun if we are to recoup any of the fee paid, with the £13.5m-rated disaster under contract until 2022.

In other Everton news, the club have been offered a January deal for a £4.5m-rated midfielder raring to play in the Premier League.
