New Everton manager, Sean Dyche has spoken about his side’s failure to bring in a single player during the January transfer window after fis appointment last week in his first press conference as Everton manager.

Everton announced the appointment of former Burnley manager, Sean Dyche as their new manager after sacking Frank Lampard, with his side sitting 19th in the Premier League after 20 games.

Going into the January transfer window, it was widely believed that the toffees would need to make a few signings, in attacking areas in particular, in order to bolster their squad going into the second half of the season.

However,  with the window slamming shut on Tuesday evening, Everton failed to bring a single player through the door despite a late dash to sign a striker, with the likes of Olivier Giroud subject to a late bid from Everton.

In his first press conference as the new Everton manager, he spoke about his side’s struggles during the window:

“Firstly, one thing that I can assure you is that all I have seen is hard work, particularly in the recruitment area. The owner, the chairman, Kev (Kevin Thelwell), myself on the phone constantly”.

(signings) have got to be better than what we have got here, and we have got some very good players here. Ive nevr beenone for signing players for the sake of signing them”.

“There were no promises. What promises can you give when you are making recruitment?”

Dyche was sacked by his former club, Burnley just past the halfway point of last season after almost 10 years in the role.

In his tenure at ‘The Clarets’, he was often given a limited budget by the board to sign players. So if any manager is able to work without much backing in the transfer market, it is him. He will, however, need the full backing of the fans and, most importantly, the team if he is to succeed at EFC.

Will Sean Dyche 'succeed' as Everton manager?
