It’s safe to say that conflicting reports are doing the rounds about Kieran Tierney at the moment and it’s hard to say exactly what is going to happen.

The left-back is obviously a top young player and would surely be capable of performing in the Premier League.

Naturally, then, we were keen given our need for a player in that position but over the weekend the Liverpool Echo suggested that we had walked away from the deal.

In contrast, though, on the Transfer Window podcast with Duncan Castles – via the Daily Star, guest Ian McGarry has suggested that the Blues have made a contract offer to the player.

He said:

“I’m told Celtic are very calm and unperturbed about the fact his agents are actively marketing him in the Premier League.

“But also (his agents) have agreed, in principle, a deal with Everton which could be worth around £85,000-a-week to the player, including step-ups in salary per year of a five-year contract so by year five he’d be expecting to earn in the region of £140,000-a-week.”

The Verdict

Perhaps this deal isn’t dead in the water after all?

Tierney is a player many of us would like, of course, but it seemed as though the Blues had given up.

A contract offer may be on the table, though, so perhaps we’ll just have to wait and see how this one plays out.
