Loads of Everton fans have been reacting on social media, after the club shared that on-loan AS Monaco defender Djibril Sidibe achieved a season-best feat against Watford on Saturday.
The French right-back made his 20th outing across all competitions for the Toffees at Vicarage Road during our 3-2 comeback win, which saw boss Carlo Ancelotti field Sidibe in the starting line-up for the seventh time during his tenure.
Sidibe has now opened 18 games since his summer switch from the Principality, which saw Everton agree to pay a €2.5million (£2.1m) loan fee and obtain a €14m (£11.8m) option to buy clause which becomes active at the close of the campaign.
Some fans have been urging the Toffees to trigger that clause as soon as possible, after the club shared that Sidibe made eight successful tackles against Watford on Saturday, which is the most any Blues player has achieved in a single game this term.
Should we trigger our option-to-buy clause for Sidibe?
Yes
No
Sidibe attempted a game-high nine tackles against Watford and recorded three interceptions, three clearances, won each of his two aerial duels, beat an opposing player with his only dribble and took a match-high 99 touches, per WhoScored data.
The 18-cap France international also completed 43 of his 59 passes and played one key ball, while Sofa Score note that he found teammates with two of his eight attempted long balls and two of his five crosses.
Sofa Score data shows that Sidibe won 12 of his 15 ground duels, as well, but lost possession a team-high 23 times – only Hornets left-back and opening goalscorer Adam Masina lost possession on more occasions with 33.
Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to the club’s post noting Sidibe’s season-best feat of making eight successful tackles in a single match as Ancelotti’s 10-man Everton beat Watford…

He did lose the ball 23 times for a team high though, needs to improve on that going forward.
