Should Lampard stay or should he go? – Have your say

After the humiliating defeat at home to Brighton on Tuesday evening some fans asked for the sacking of manager Frank Lampard, but some, and rightly so. They turned their anger towards the people above Frank Lampard, with chants of ‘sack the board’ ringing around the ground when the third goal went in and the full-time whistle was blown.

Eight managers in 10 years. Something I used to laugh at other clubs doing as when growing up when I understood what football actually meant, I have seen Walter Smith in charge and then David Moyes for the majority of my life, but since he left for Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson retired, we have seen six permanent managers.

They include, (after they left Everton) former Barcelona and Holland manager Ronald Koeman, former Belgium manager Roberto Martinez, former England manager Sam Allardyce and current Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. Some huge names but none of them, Carlo Ancelotti included could do anything with Everton under this current board and whether you like Lampard or not, he is feeling the effects of financial mismanagement from those managers named above and the people in charge.

If they (the board) decide to sack Lampard we might get a new manager bounce, but who is to say that in 12 months’ time, we will not be in the same situation? Lampard hasn’t even been in charge of Everton for 12 months yet and once again we find ourselves in the same situation.

In the summer Lampard lost his best player in Richarlison, his replacements in Dwight McNeil and Neal Maupay are not good enough. You can say he (Lampard) is the one that brought them in, but I find it hard to believe that they were at the top of the list in those positions. If they were, he has himself to blame, but once again on the field, the players need to stand up and do the basics right.
