Report: Striker ‘in Everton’s sight’, Marco Silva ‘recommends buying’ 25-year-old in January

|

According to Record, Gonçalo Paciência is ‘in Everton’s sights’ and Marco Silva ‘recommends buying’ the 25-year-old in January. Paciência has impressed at Eintracht Frankfurt this season and could be the subject of interest from many clubs as a result.

The Portuguese international has made 23 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating 12 goals. In the Bundesliga, Paciência has six goals in 11 appearances and finds himself fourth in the division’s scoring charts behind Robert Lewandowski (16), Timo Werner (11) and Rouwen Hennings (9).

Everton’s alleged pursuit for a new centre-forward is intriguing. The Toffees currently have Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison, Cenk Tosun and Moise Kean who can operate in the role, but goals have been hard to come by – 13 goals in 12 Premier League.

Should Everton sign a striker in January?

Yes

No

The Toffees’ top scorers are Calvert-Lewin (3) & Richarlison (3) while Tosun (1) and Kean (0) have just one goal between them. Silva is blessed with depth in attack but none of the players at his disposal have been prolific this season. Whether Paciência would solve their problem remains to be seen, but he’s certainly enjoying a fantastic run of form in 2019/20.
