Report reveals which highly-rated Everton man is a target for four European clubs

|

According to Tom Gott of 90 Min, Ajax and PSV Eindhoven are keen on Lewis Gibson. The 19-year-old is out of contract next summer and could leave on a free transfer if Everton can’t tie him down to a new deal.

90 Min say Gibson’s agents are based in the Netherlands which has led to interest from the two Eredivisie giants, but it remains to be seen if either club is successful landing his signature.

The England u20 has been a regular for Everton’s u23s, making 30 appearances since joining from Newcastle United in 2017, but he’s yet to be rewarded with a first-team appearance.

In addition to interest from Ajax & PSV, Gibson is said to be a transfer target for Newcastle and Rangers too. The centre-back is highly-rated and could have a bright future, but he has a difficult decision to make.

Everton risk losing a talented player for cheap if he doesn’t put pen to paper on a new contract. Gibson’s lack of opportunity under Marco Silva might be behind any reluctance to commit his future on Merseyside, however.

The Toffees have Yerry Mina, Michael Keane & Mason Holgate in the first-team, but Gibson might be given a spot on the bench soon if Mina’s knee injury turns out to be a bad one.

The 25-year-old is being assessed and may sit out Saturday’s meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion.
