Report: Everton youngster looks set to remain at club following revelation from Europe

Schalke doesn’t have an option in their loan-deal with Everton for Jonjoe Kenny to permanently buy the right-back.

As reported by BILD, the Bundesliga side have no clause in the deal to make Kenny’s already successful loan with Schalke permanent come the end of the season despite the report also claiming that David Wagner’s side wants to keep hold of the Evertonian defender.

The 22-year-old fullback has been a sensation for Schalke this season. As numbers from Transfermarkt show, Kenny has been a productive player for the Ruhr-based club, scoring one and assisting two in eight games for the German giants.

Yet despite impressing in the Bundesliga, it seemingly appears that Kenny will be returning to Everton once his season-long loan in Germany is over, with the Kirkdale-born defender looking likely to take over from Seamus Coleman next season as the club’s starting right-back.

The Irish international has been poor this season for Everton, with the now 31-year-old fullback being sent off in the Toffees’ previous Premier League match against Burnley for a second bookable offence, and fans of the Merseyside club would be seemingly keen on seeing Kenny, who is nine years younger than Coleman, take the starting right-back spot in the XI.

With Everton currently sitting in the relegation zone of the Premier League table, it seems likely that Kenny will be returning to his boyhood club with a new manager at the helm with Marco Silva under increasing pressure, yet all is not lost for the Toffees.

Kenny, who is valued on Transfermarkt at £7.2m, could be seen as one of the young players in the squad to drive the club forward into the future along with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Moise Kean and Alex Iwobi. And after an already impressive spell in Germany, the right-back will be seen as one of the key players for years to come on Merseyside.
