Report: Everton ‘keeping tabs’ on 19-year-old who’s impressed scouts this season

According to Pete O’Rourke of the Football Insider, Everton are ‘keeping tabs’ on Rafael Camacho. The 19-year-old is said to have impressed scouts at Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Arsenal, so his future may be uncertain at Sporting CP.

Camacho joined the Primeira Liga outfit from Liverpool last summer and has gone on to make 17 first-team appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating two goals. He was short of playing time in the first few months of the campaign – making just one league appearance in August, September and October – but has featured in nine of Sporting’s last 10 games.

The Portuguese u20 international can operate on either flank, in a central role and as a wing-back, so he’d bring versatility to the Everton squad. Whether the Toffees are actually considering a move for Camacho remains to be seen, however.

Carlo Ancelotti currently has Richarlison, Alex Iwobi, Bernard and Theo Walcott who can operate on the flank, so Everton would be overstocked on the wing if they brought in another player. Competition from so many Premier League giants may hamper their chances too.
