Report: Everton interested in highly-rated 19-year-old

According to TEAMtalk, Everton are interested in James Scott and could battle Bournemouth, Southampton, Sheffield United, Bristol City, Barnsley and Sunderland for his signature. The 19-year-old made his breakthrough for Motherwell last season and could have a bright future.

Scott has contributed seven goals in 24 appearances in all competitions for Well and has been a regular in the first-team this season – five Premiership appearances. The Scotland u21 international has already scored three goals and made one assist in five League Cup appearances too.

He can operate as a centre-forward and on the right-wing, but he may not be immediately ready for first-team football if he did sign for Everton – Scott would have competition from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Moise Kean and Cenk Tosun in attack, and would have Richarlison, Theo Walcott, Alex Iwobi and Bernard to edge out on the wing too.

Everton have a lot of clubs to beat out before they’ll be in a position to sign the forward too. Scott could have his pick of sides if he’s looking to leave Motherwell, but TEAMtalk haven’t revealed if that is the case. Whether a bid will materialise in January from one of the interest party remains to be seen too.
