Report: Everton defender ‘almost impossible’ for club to sign

According to Der Westen (h/t Sport Witness), Jonjoe Kenny will be ‘almost impossible’ for Schalke 04 to sign due to interest from other clubs. While currently valued at £10.1m, the report says that Kenny’s asking price could rise in the coming months.

The 22-year-old joined Schalke on loan from Everton last summer and has impressed at the Veltins-Arena. Kenny has made 21 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring and creating three goals.

In the Bundesliga, the right-back has averaged 40.3 passes-per-game, made 12 chances, whipped in 38 crosses with 21% accuracy, blocked 29 shots/passes/crosses and averaged a tackle (28) or interception (15) every 39 minutes.

Schalke tried and failed to sign Kenny in January and may have to give up their pursuit as they’re likely to be priced out. It remains to be seen whether Everton want to keep the England u21 international next season, however, as Seamus Coleman and Djibril Sidibe may stand in his way of getting first-team football.

Kenny has made 40 appearances in all competitions for Everton, the last of which came in their 3-2 defeat to Newcastle United (March 9, 2019).
