Everton were forced to operate with Marouane Fellaini and Tim Cahill in the forward positions during Monday’s draw with Chelsea such is the extent of the current striker crisis at the club.

Vagner Love was a player Everton had hoped to lure to Goodison Park in the summer, but for a last minute hitch. The player has indicated however he would be willing to try his luck in the Premier League, possibly even with a club not so famous, like Everton. His words, not mine!

‘I speak to Jo a lot and he says only good things,’

‘Everton, for example, aren’t the most famous club, but they are a good side playing in one of the biggest championships in the world.’

‘Off the pitch I wouldn’t have any problems, the only way I would need to adapt is on the pitch.’

The player seems to be talking himself up for a move to Everton, after his preferred transfer to Real Madrid seems more unlikely after they signed Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

However with funds tight, Everton will be hoping to secure the player on a short term loan until the summer, when perhaps they may be in a position to make the signing a permanent one.

Whether CSKA Moscow will let one of their prized assets leave on loan is another matter.
