Rangers boss ‘Lauds’ Everton midfielder amid transfer speculation

|

Rangers manager Michael Beale has ‘lauded’ Everton midfielder Tom Davies amid speculation over a potential move to Ibrox for the Englishman. But Everton may not be too keen to let him go.

Tom Davies made a breakthrough into the Everton first-team under Ronald Koeman in 2016 after impressing for his side’s youth teams as well as impressing for England’s youth sides too, winning the u20 World Cup in 2017.

The midfielder scored his first goal for Everton in a 4-0 win over Manchester City at Goodison Park in 2016 and has since made 169 competitive appearances for the toffees, scoring 7 goals in that time.

However, since the arrival of Frank Lampard and his ‘midfield overhaul’ during the summer window with the likes of Idrissa Gana-Gueye, James Garner and Amadou Onana joining the club, the 24-year-old has fallen out of favour.

Because of this, Davies has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park, with both Southampton and Rangers both being linked with him in recent days.

Rangers manager Michael Beale was asked about Davies in a recent interview, stating:

“He used to kick my Liverpool U23s team all around the place.”

“There’s a bit of John Lundstram about him.”

“Not confirming anything, but there’s a lot of players we are speaking to at the moment.” [via The Herald]

Although a move away from Everton might be the best option for Davies to continue developing his career, Frank Lampard’s side is still very thin and they might choose to keep the Englishman at the club until the end of the season.
