James McCarthy has stepped up his recovery from his leg break against West Brom with the Liverpool Echo highlighting that he is back out on the grass.

As you’ll remember, the midfielder suffered a horror break after an accidental coming together with Albion forward Salomon Rondon.

The Irishman has been missing for the months since but his recovery seems to be going along nicely and getting back out on the turf is always a good milestone.

He is still a way off getting back into full training and, of course, first team action but he is on the mend and you would think that the worst is now over.

The Verdict

McCarthy might not be our best midfielder but what I’ve always liked about him is the work he puts in when he is given a chance.

That ethic is clearly helping him with his recovery, too, and hopefully he’ll be back out at Goodison before too long and trying to impress his new manager after not seeing eye-to-eye always with Koeman.
