The Blues are on the brink of announcing Lucas Digne with him on Merseyside for his medical today – as per the Daily Mail.
The left-back has been linked with the club for a few weeks now and it seems as though we’re going to get our man from Barcelona.
Marco Silva has identified the left side of defence as one area he wants to improve on and Digne seems to be the man to take over from Leighton Baines down that flank.
Baines has been a loyal servant but he’s shown signs of decline in recent years so bringing in the Frenchman now makes a lot of sense.
The Verdict
I like this signing.
Providing the medical all goes through without problems – as it really should – we’ll have another signing and he should prove a successful one.
Digne has pace and good delivery but can also defend and seems the logical person to take over from Baines down that side.
