PL duo join race for Everton’s 62-cap international – report

|

Arsenal and Manchester City have joined the race for Idrissa Gana Gueye, as Paris Saint-Germain look to lock up the Everton ace, according to Sky Sports News.

Gueye has been a continual target for the Parisian outfit since Adrien Rabiot confirmed that he would not be accepting a fourth contract offer tabled to him.

Everton have so far rebuffed their efforts of signing the Senegal international this month, and denied speculation that a £21.5million offer over the weekend being rejected led to the 29-year-old handing in a formal transfer request.

The uncertainty over Gueye’s future, however, has alerted fellow Premier League sides Arsenal and Man City to the potential of signing one of the best defensive midfielders in England.

The duo are claimed, by Sky Sports News, to be interested, although they do not note whether they will make an approach or not.

Despite not featuring on Tuesday night with a groin injury, the 62-cap international remains Everton’s leading outfield player for successful tackles, interceptions, passes blocked and made, according to WhoScored.

Gueye also ranks top of the list for successful tackles out of any outfield player in the Premier League.
