Opinion: Selling Everton defender would be a big mistake from Marcel Brands

|

Jonjoe Kenny could be on his way out at Everton as Schalke 04 are planning to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent deal. Kenny has spent the season on loan at the Veltins-Arena and has been a regular under David Wagner – 19 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating three goals.

As per WhoScored, the England u21 international has racked up 1523 minutes of Bundesliga football, made 14 interceptions, created 12 chances, made 25 tackles, won 21 aerial duels (48%), made four successful dribbles (50%), whipped in 37 crosses with 22% accuracy, blocked 27 shots/passes/crosses and made 40 clearances.

Kenny could be in contention of a starting place at Everton if he returned to his parent club, but Schalke want to convince him to stay in Germany. Marcel Brands would be making a big mistake letting the right-back leave, but Kenny may want a fresh start elsewhere as he’s failed to nail down a starting place on Merseyside.

The 22-year-old was behind Seamus Coleman and Djibril Sidibe in the pecking order last season and opted for a move away to get regular playing time. He’s made 40 appearances for the Blues, but only 12 of them came last season. Where he’ll ply his trade in 2020/21 remains to be seen.

Should the club sell Kenny to Schalke this month?
