Everton have been linked with a move for James Rodriguez again. John Richardson of the Sunday Mirror says the 28-year-old could leave Real Madrid as he’s been short of playing time this season, but James’ lack of action is actually down to him picking up an injury.
The Colombian international has made nine appearances in all competitions, the last of which came in Real’s 1-0 win over Galatasaray (October 22). James has started five of his nine outings and only been substituted three times. He’s not featured for nearly three months due to a medial collateral ligament injury.
The Sunday Mirror believe Ancelotti’s relationship with the 28-year-old and Real Madrid could boost Everton’s hopes of landing their transfer target, but time will tell. Whether James considers the Toffees as a good temporary career move remains to be seen.
Where does Ancelotti need to spend in January?
Goalkeeper
Defence
Midfield
Attack
He was playing on a regular basis before his injury in November, so the attacking-midfielder may fight for his place when fully fit again. James will have Isco for competition, but he was previously getting opportunities under Zidane Zidane regardless.
Everton are being ambitious with their pursuit of the Colombian, but are they also being foolish?
