Opinion: Everton may have to pay £26m and £2.15m wages to sign centre-forward

According TuttoMercatoWeb, Patrick Schick could be on his way out of AS Roma this summer and Everton have been linked with the 23-year-old’s signature. TMW say Schick has an asking price of £26m and currently earns £2.15m-a-year/£41k-per-week at the Stadio Olimpico. He wouldn’t break the bank for Everton, but the Blues aren’t likely to be the only side interested in the coming weeks.

Schick hasn’t been in the best scoring form this season, netting only three goals in 21 Serie A games in 2018/19, but the Czech Republic international is tipped to have a bright future. With Cenk Tosun potentially on his way out of Everton this summer, Marcel Brands and Marco Silva are on the hunt for a new striker. The club’s new transfer policy is to sign young players and Schick would fit the bill.

The 23-year-old has scored and created a total of 11 goals in 55 games in all competitions at Roma (including last season’s loan move). He can operate up front, as a second-striker and as a wide-forward so he’s a versatile attacker. Everton are looking at him, but whether they believe Schick is good enough to lead the line in 2019/20 remains to be seen.
