Everton confirm that Yannick Bolasie has joined Sporting CP on a season-long loan. The 30-year-old has been surplus to requirements under Marco Silva and doesn’t appear to have a future at Goodison Park.

A lack of playing time at Everton led Bolasie to seek a loan move to Aston Villa and RSC Anderlecht last season, but he didn’t do enough at either club to earn himself a permanent deal.

The DR Congo international was linked with a move away this summer, but no deal materialised until the final hour of Deadline Day. Sporting have procured his signature, but Everton are yet to confirm whether there is a buying option attached.

Since his move from Crystal Palace in August 2016, Bolasie has gone on to make 32 appearances in all competitions for Everton, scoring two goals and making four assists. He’s struggled for form & fitness at Goodison Park and eventually lost his place in the first-team as a result.

Whether he can turn his career around at Sporting remains to be seen, however, as the Portuguese Primeira Liga outfit have looked human early into the new season – they’ve dropped points in 50% of their league games.
