Everton will be without Richarlison against Newcastle United on Tuesday as he still hasn’t recovered from a knee injury. The 22-year-old, who missed Everton’s 1-1 draw with West Ham United on Saturday, was training on Monday, but Carlo Ancelotti said he’s still playing through pain.

The Toffees manager said in Monday’s pre-match press conference: “Richarlison trained (Monday) but he still has pain, so he is not available.” Richarlison should be back to face Watford on February 1, so long as the pain subsides in the coming weeks.

In his absence, Ancelotti named Bernard and Theo Walcott on the wing while Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean started in attack. Richarlison will be missed as he’s been in fine form of late, scoring and creating six goals in his last nine Premier League appearances, but Ancelotti has enough players to call upon.

Everton are enjoying an upturn in form too. The Blues are currently 11th in the table with 29 points from 23 games, coming off the back of three wins and a draw from their last five. They could move ahead of Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Tottenham if they beat Newcastle.
