We may have moved above West Ham when we beat them at the London Stadium, but our chances of qualifying for Europe remain slim despite the comfortable three points.
What is not comfortable, though, is when Richarlison’s future is cast into doubt, and the winger has been making headlines back in Brazil.
UOL Esporte have claimed that, while we have no intentions of selling the forward a year after signing him, there were a range of £50million offers lodged in the winter, albeit ones that were not even considered.
That’s because we would only allow the “irreplaceable” attacker to leave Goodison Park for £70million, and are backed by the player’s ‘father and son’ bond with Marco Silva and Farhad Moshiri’s lack of need for money.
What also works in our favour is that his representative Renato Velasco and super-agent Kia Joorabchian’s respective companies – the Velasco Sport Group and Sports Invest UK Ltd – helped to bring Richarlison to England and then on to Merseyside.
Velasco, however, has not been quiet since playing a part in the Brazilian’s route out of Watford, as UOL added that he has met with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp at the German’s home – something that can easily raise concern, as Richarlison is his only client based in Europe.
What will instantly calm those nerves, however, is that neither Velasco nor Joorabchian are keen to orchestrate another move for Richarlison having “found a partner at Everton”.
The report, though, did create a spark on Reddit, with Toffees fans reacting to the news Velasco had met Klopp…
