Bernard is starting to clock up the minutes for the club as he works his way up to full fitness at Finch Farm.
There’s an air of excitement about the Brazilian as for a long time he was linked with a move to the Premier League and various clubs.
We managed to get him, though, and we’re hoping that he lives up to the hype.
We’ve only seen flashes so far so we cannot really make judgement as yet but it seems clear that he is close to being able to have a run in the side.
“Everton gives me the opportunity and the structure to be able to come back [to my best level].
“I’ve had five months without pre-season, but I’ve had a month here now and, slowly, I am getting the rhythm of the game and playing matches. I’m sure it’s going to get much better.”
Certainly, with him in the team as well as Richarlison and Theo Walcott we are going to make a lot of chances for the central striker.
Who that ends up being, remains to be seen, though, as that seems to be the real problem position at the moment in the squad.
