Everton fans were left disagreeing with a Premier League legend after the Merseysiders controversially had a stoppage-time goal disallowed in our 1-1 draw at home to Manchester United.
The Blues took on the Red Devils in an even affair as the two sides looked to boost their hopes of European football. However, Dominic Calvert-Lewin was denied a winner after Gylfi Sigurdsson was deemed to be in an offside position as the Englishman’s deflected strike made its way into the net.
Was the referee right to chalk the goal off?
Yes
No
The fans weren’t letting all their anger out on the referee or VAR, however, but on Roy Keane, who voiced his opinion on the 30-year-old’s positioning for the strike.
Sigurdsson was lambasted by the former Republic of Ireland international, who claimed he’d be annoyed with the midfielder if he was a teammate, noting after the game on Sky Sports: “I’d be annoyed at Sigurdsson for not getting out of the way. Please tell me what he’s waiting for?”
It was a decision that infuriated Carlo Ancelotti with the Italian getting sent-off after full-time for his remonstrations towards referee Chris Kavanagh.
Here are some of the messages from the Goodison Park faithful after Keane’s reaction to the disallowed goal:
“I’d be annoyed at Sigurdsson for not getting out of the way. Please tell me what he’s waiting for?”
Probably treatment from the physio after being hacked down.

I thought that but you watch him get wiped out by the United defender during his shot so where is the penalty shout?

When did the law change that you are offside when the ball has come off a defending player. Must have missed that one?

Everton fans, what do you make of Keane’s verdict about the goal? Let us know your thoughts below!
There’s nothing like a comment from a good manager, but hang on, Keane isn’t a good manager, he’s a failure. He isn’t the glass half full, glass half empty guy, he’s so negative and angry that he’s the no glass at all, because he’s thrown it against the wall and smashed it!
