‘Must be Despirate’ – Sunderland fans hit back at Frank Lampard after Simms return claim

|

Sunderland fans have hit back at Frank Lampard and Everton after recent claims that the club are reportedly looking at cutting Ellis Simms’ loan deal short as part of their hunt for a new striker.

Although he has only made 1 first-team appearance for Everton to date, Ellis Simms is having yet another successful loan spell away from the club, putting up some good numbers for Championship high-flyers Sunderland.

The Englishman has scored 7 goals in 17 appearances so far for the Black Cats, helping them to an impressive 4th in the League with 25 matches played.

On the other hand, his parent club has been struggling for goals of late, only managing to put the ball in the back of the net on 12 occasions after 16 game weeks.

As a result of their lack of goals, Frank Lampard has confirmed that the club will look at all of their options with the January transfer window approaches, with one of these options being recalling Ellis Simms from his loan deal [via si.com]

Since this news has surfaced, fans of both Everton and Sunderland have taken to the internet to display their opinions.

The Roker Report have displayed their opinion on the potential move, stating:

“Very much enjoying Ellis Simms in a Sunderland shirt but to expect him to be able to go back to Everton and score goals in the Premier League is a stretch – and totally unfair…”

“because he’s nowhere near ready.”

“They must be absolutely desperate.”

Should Everton recall Ellis Simms in January?
