And Everton fans are a group who experienced this well-known quote to the fullest this summer when Idrissa Gana Gueye packed his bags from Merseyside and headed south to the bright lights of PSG.
Despite leaving for one of Europe’s elite, supporters still hold a soft spot for Gueye in their hearts, and this was best exhibited this week as the midfielder celebrated his 30th birthday.
As you would expect, plenty of Everton fans took to social media to wish the Ligue 1 midfielder a happy birthday, as well as express their continued support for the Senegalese international.
