Marco Silva receives dissapointing update over Everton’s transfer plans – report

|

Marco Silva has been given a worrying update from the Everton board over the Toffees’ transfer plans, according to Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth, which were quotes by the Express.

Sheth has been quoted by the Express discussing Everton’s potential transfer activity and, in particular, their plans to bring in Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.

The forward is still currently in Spain training with Valencia as his season-long loan is yet to be officially cut short, but the Belgian is out-of-favour at the Mestalla Stadium and could leave at any moment.

Batshuayi has been identified as a potential target for Everton, but the Toffees are unable to add a third player on loan due to Premier League regulations.

Therefore Marcel Brands would have to negotiate a permanent transfer with Chelsea for the 25-year-old, something The Sun have claimed would cost around £40million.

Sheth, though, has been quoted saying that Everton have told Silva they will not be able to raise the funds, at least without selling Cenk Tosun.

“Crystal Palace have had an enquiry to Everton about Cenk Tosun, who only joined a year ago,” Sheth said.

“They aren’t willing to sanction a loan, which would imply that Everton would be listening to permanent offers.

“This goes hand in hand with Palace and Michy Batshuayi. Everton are interested in Batshuayi, but they can’t take him on loan because they’ve already got Kurt Zouma from Chelsea.

“Would they want to bring him in permanently? Marco Silva has been told by the board they haven’t got the conditions in their finances to be able to pursue such a deal.”
