Marco Silva must convince £20m-rated ace ace that Everton is right for him after latest report

Henry Onyekuru is finally in line to make his Everton debut, but the Nigerian’s future may be away from Merseyside, according to reports from TEAMtalk.

The 7-cap international has still not kicked a ball in England, despite being signed by the club in 2017, as the 21-year-old has never been able to earn a work permit.

Thanks to his now-regular place in Nigeria’s senior international squad, however, he is likely to earn one in time for next season, providing he is still on Everton’s books.

Due to his inability to play at Goodison Park this term, Onyekuru has been out in Turkey on-loan with Galatasaray and has been mightily impressive.

So far, he has found the net nine times in 22 games, with seven coming from 13 appearances on the left-flank – Onyekuru has also played five games as a striker, scoring twice, and four on the right-wing.

His record in the Super Lig has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with TEAMtalk adding that while Galatasaray would like to keep the winger, Paris Saint-Germain are ready to offer Everton £20million for his services in order to fend off interest from Monaco, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund.

If we were to accept the bid from the Parisian outfit or any of the other clubs mentioned, it would signal a tidy profit on the £7million we paid KAS Eupen in 2017.

Marco Silva cannot do so without a fight, though, and must convince Onyekuru that he has a future at Everton and that he can make an impact at Goodison Park next season.

The only issue with that would be if the other clubs interested are offering the winger guaranteed game time, as the Nigerian would be rivaling Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Bernard, Theo Walcott and Ademola Lookman on Merseyside, with Silva happy to rotate between them.
