Marco Silva makes Everton transfer admission that may upset fans

|

Everton have shown signs of progress under the guidance of Marco Silva but a lack of consistency in the first half of the campaign has shown there is still more work to be done on the blue half of Merseyside.

The January transfer window has naturally seen the Toffees linked with a host of new names but Silva has issued an update on the club’s stance that may upset supporters who are holding out for fresh recruits.

Quoted by The Mail, Silva has revealed that departures are necessary to raise funds for any new additions as the club’s finances has tight after spending heavily in the summer, where the likes of Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne and Bernard were brought to Goodison Park.

“When you asked me the last few weeks the possible players coming or not in the market, I told you that you just can’t sign someone if someone leaves the club or we sell someone. We don’t have the financial conditions to go in the market, (that) is the feedback I have at the moment. I have to find different solutions.”

Everton’s biggest need seems to be a natural goalscorer, which the Toffees have lacked since Romelu Lukaku’s move to Manchester United in 2017, but that void may only be filled at the end of the season.
