Unimpressed Everton fans have been reacting to Marco Silva’s latest press conference, where he addressed the club’s transfer policy and tactics.
The Toffees appointed Silva in the summer and the Portuguese manager was thought to be bringing a creative, dynamic and attacking style of play to Goodison Park and leave the dreary defensive football of the Sam Allardyce’s of the world in the past.
Results struggled to take off, though, and, as quickly as they eventually turned around, have again fallen off the pace – so much so that Everton have won just three of their last 12 games in all competitions.
Now, Silva has spoken to the media, per reports by the Liverpool Echo, and said that changes are needed.
“It’s not just about changing players all the time,” said the former Watford boss. “It’s not about just the players, I know what the club needs also.
“It’s a matter of focus. You take your responsibility on the pitch. 95% of teams in the world do zonal marking on those moments for set pieces.”
Unfortunately for Silva, though, the change some fans seem to want the most is the man in charge…
maybe there is hope for him if he takes on a defensive coach today and starts drilling the chaps on defending against balls played into the penalty area from acute angles, high crosses and set pieces.

Can’t wait for him to not be sitting there, unless he turns into a lunatic on the sidelines, like @Simeone

My view: We want success so badly we can ruin it before it gets going, at the first sign of success we expect, imagine, worry and criticise in equal measure, we need to allow things to grow, allow a Manager to learn and give him time to make it good! Whether that’s Silva or not

We do need to give a manager more time. Just not Silva.

I think moshiri scatter gun approach to choosing a manager is a recipe for disaster. First thing is get an established man who knows what’s needed to get us to the next level. The stats of the last 3/4 managers we’ve appointed says it all. They aren’t good enough:
