Marcel Brands carried out Everton’s Europa League scouting mission on nine-goal ace – report

|

Marco Silva’s options on the wings and up front are currently limited, with Richarlison struggling to find the net and Theo Walcott being, well, Walcott, but Henry Onyekuru could be the answer next season, as Marcel Brands has been sent to report back on the Nigerian, according to Fanatik.

Onyekuru still cannot play at Goodison Park, as the 7-cap international has not been granted a work permit in the U.K., which led to his previous loan spell with Anderlecht and now with Galatasaray.

With the Super Lig giants, Onyekuru has continued to excel – scoring nine in 27 games – and remains in consideration back at Goodison Park, with Everton’s Director of Football said to have traveled out to the Turk Telekom Arena on Thursday to carry out a personal scouting mission.

Fatih Terim’s side ultimately lost the clash with Benfica and will head into the second-leg 2-1 down on aggregate, but Onyekuru would still have caught Brands’ eye with four successful dribbles and two shots from the left-wing – no player for either side attempted or completed as many take-ons as the 21-year-old.

Fanatik’s report claims that Brands will now report back to Everton as they are seriously considering recalling Onyekuru for next season should he obtain a work permit, which they are hopeful of.
