Major blow for Marco Silva as Everton man is ruled out for up to three months

According to BBC Sport, Marco Silva has suffered a major blow as Jean-Philippe Gbamin has been ruled out for three months. The Everton midfielder could miss most of 2019 with a thigh injury and may not return until the New Year.

While bad news for the Toffees, Silva could turn to Fabian Delph in midfield now he’s recovered from a groin injury. Everton next face Lincoln City (EFL Cup) on August 28 and Wolverhampton Wanderers (Premier League) on September 1.

Gbamin has made two appearances in all competitions for Everton – against Crystal Palace (August 10) and Watford (August 17) – but he was left out of the matchday squad against Aston Villa (August 23) after picking up the thigh injury in training.

The 23-year-old will undergo further tests with Everton, but there’s a possibility he could be out of action for up to 12 weeks. The Blues are hoping to have Gbamin back in late-November/early-December.

BBC Sport say he’s unlikely to need surgery which will mean he could play a prominent role for Everton in the second-half of the season. The Merseysiders find themselves 12th in the Premier League with four points from a possible nine.
