‘Love to have him’, ‘His time has passed’ – Lots of Everton fans debate signing £36m-rated madman

|

We may not have been linked with Diego Costa recently, but a lot of Toffees supporters have been discussing launching a raid on Atletico Madrid for the former Chelsea striker on the R/Everton Reddit page.

Not every fan sharing their take on the suggestion was keen to see the 30-year-old return to the Premier League in Marco Silva’s attack, with his reputation preceding him.

Costa was known to be a madman during his time at Stamford Bridge, and that has continued since he returned to Madrid in 2017, as he woke his brother up earlier this year by setting off a string of small fireworks just inches from his bed.

The £36million-rated forward, as per TransferMarkt, has also just been slapped with an eight-game ban by the Spanish Football Federation, having been found guilty of abusing a referee, which will keep him out of action until next season.

Jesus Gil Manzano sent Costa off last weekend, when Barcelona visited the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium and stretched their La Liga advantage, and later noted in his match report that the 24-cap international had “insulted his mother”.

Atletico have since claimed they will appeal the Spanish Football Federation’s decision, with the eight games stemming from insults (four) and grabbing the official’s arm (four).

With all things considered, this is what some Everton fans have said on Reddit, when it was suggested he could be a good, physical striker for us…
