“Let him go”, “I’d sell” – Loads of Everton fans react as “inconsistent” ace linked with summer exit

|

Loads of Everton fans have been reacting on social media, after LaRoma24 claimed Bernard had been offered to AS Roma.

It is suggested that the Brazilian has been put forward as one of several players the Serie A side could target in the next transfer window, and that the Giallorossi are ‘carefully evaluating’ their options.

The report does not claim who is behind the move to offer Bernard to Roma, but it is fair to assume that an agent is instigating matters as a range of the names offered to the Stadio Olimpico natives are of the same nationality and playing for clubs across Europe.

Vital Everton have already proposed that Bernard may have been included as Paulo Fonseca may require another creative midfielder next season, as his Italian powerhouse have so far fallen short in negotiations with Arsenal over a permanent deal for on-loan playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Bernard, who earns £120,000-per-week at Goodison Park and is one of the Toffees’ joint-highest earners, has featured in 22 of the club’s fixtures this season across all competitions, in which he has contributed three goals and two assists.

Carlo Ancelotti has been at the helm for nine of Bernard’s appearances, and seen the 14-cap international fire home against Crystal Palace and assist Moise Kean’s only goal in Royal Blue to date.

The boss has openly expressed his fondness of the 27-year-old, too, noting at the start of March, via quotes by the Liverpool Echo: “He is really good with the ball and he did really well against Crystal Palace where he scored the first goal.

“When the game is in balance, it is more difficult for him to prove his quality. When we have control of the game, for him it is easier for him to prove his quality. Maybe for this reason, I put him [in the team] at home and not away.

“He doesn’t have to convince me, I am already convinced he is a good player and helpful for us.”

In other Everton news, the club will be made to pay for our failed January swoop should Carlo Ancelotti return for 41-cap man.
