A few Everton fans have been reacting on social media to an official club tweet by sharing the same message, calling for Marco Silva to be sacked.
The club had shared via the Fan Services account that our Under 21s are in action against Fleetwood Town in the Leasing.com Trophy on Tuesday night, and that supporters will be able to attend the tie at Goodison Park.
But with much uproar since Saturday’s 2-0 loss at home to Norwich City still floating in some corners of the fanbase, some supporters took this as a chance to call for the boss to be relieved of his duties.
Reports on Monday suggested the board are considering firing Silva ahead of Sunday’s televised trip to Leicester City, as losing to the Canaries was considered a new low for the Portuguese who is facing growing pressure to retain his job.
David Moyes would be a strong contender to step in, potentially until the end of the season, should the board decide that enough is enough with Silva, while AFC Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe is still backed by some club chiefs.
Howe was targeted in 2016 before we appointed Ronald Koeman, but was reluctant to leave the Cherries at the time, yet may be more willing now.
Defeat at home to Norwich at the weekend was our third loss of the Premier League season at Goodison Park, and saw that we slipped to 15th in the standings before Aston Villa moved ahead on goal difference after beating Newcastle United 2-0 on Monday night.
Can Silva turn this around?
