“I Don’t Think He’s Safe” – Pundit Fears For Silva’s Future

|

Former Premier League and England international centre-half Matthew Upson has suggested that Everton manager Marco Silva will be fearing for his future at the club following last weekend’s defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road.

With Everton’s poor form well known to all fans, a narrow 1-0 defeat on Saturday was the last thing we needed, especially as fans learnt we had a further blow following the fulltime whistle as on loan Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma managed to earn himself a second yellow card for dissent and he’ll now face a ban.

Speaking to the BBC’s Final Score Programme after our most recent defeat, Upson said.

“I don’t think he is safe at the moment. I think he’s under threat, not to say that he’s going to get the sack tomorrow, but I’m sure with that run and the way that they are playing – we can talk about position in the league and points and what have you – from the supporters point of view they are sitting back and watching and not being particularly happy with what they are seeing.”

With high expectations, especially after our big money and big name arrivals over the summer the reaction to what many thought would be an expected dip has been overly harsh in the eyes of some, but it’s not unfair to say our form since December has been woeful.

The sooner we get back to winning ways, fans and Silva himself will begin sleeping more easily.
