‘I definitely have some concerns’ – Lots of Everton fans react to ‘good sign’ from PL results

|

Loads of Everton supporters have been reacting on social media, after one Blues fan noted that we are the only Premier League side to have kept clean sheets in each of our opening two fixtures.

It took until Marco Silva’s seventh top-flight game in charge of the Toffees for his new side to keep the opponent at bay last season, with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Southampton, Bournemouth, Huddersfield, West Ham United and Arsenal all breaking our goal line before Fulham fell to a 3-0 defeat on September 29.

Crystal Palace would be the next side unable to slot the ball beyond Jordan Pickford, with the Eagles beaten 2-0 at Goodison Park on October 21.

Roy Hodgson’s Selhurst Park natives had the honour of being the first side shut out by Pickford and co. this season, as a Jordan Ayew and Christian Benteke led attack managed just two shots on target all game as we were held to a nil-nil draw.

Watford were unable to halt our strong defensive run when Javi Gracia’s side travelled to Merseyside, either, in a weekend that saw last season’s champions Manchester City concede their first goals of the season.

Liverpool, while currently top of the table as one of only two sides to have won each of their games thus far, have also conceded twice, despite conceding a league-low 22 last term on route to a second-place finish.

Manchester United and Wolves are yet to concede any goals this season, as well, but are yet to play their week two encounter – with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils travelling to Molineux on Monday night, looking for their second win of the term.

Some Blues supporters reacting to our impressive defensive start to the campaign have noted that the form has carried over from the tail end of last season, where we kept eight clean sheets in our final eleven games – including shutting out Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Others have pointed to whom we have faced so far this season, and suggest our upcoming games will offer a better picture of where our defence actually racks up in comparison with the rest of the top-flight.

Here’s what these fans had to say…
