Explained: Marco Silva has a problem at Everton, latest statistic may need addressing

|

Everton enjoyed a 1-0 win over Watford on Saturday and ended the weekend 8th in the Premier League table. Marco Silva will be delighted with the start his side have made this season, but he may be worried about the lack of goals being scored. Everton have netted just once in their first two games and aren’t getting the best from their strikers.

Against Crystal Palace on Saturday, August 10, Everton had three shots on target. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean only had one shot between them and it was off-target. Against Watford, Everton had two shots on target, neither of which were from Calvert-Lewin and Kean.

The Toffees aren’t creating chances for their strikers, nor are the duo creating for their teammates. Calvert-Lewin (1) and Kean (0) have created just one chance between them in Everton’s first two Premier League games. Instead, it’s Richarlison (six shots) and Gylfi Sigurdsson (five shots) having the majority of opportunities. Bernard (four) is Everton’s top chance creator too.

The Blues struggled for goals in pre-season, scoring in only three of their seven friendlies, so Silva has his work cut out to extract more goals from the side.
