Everton secured a vital victory over Brighton at Goodison Park on Saturday, sealing a 3-1 victory courtesy of Richarlison’s brace.
The Brazilian starlet has now scored six goals in nine Premier League appearances this season, putting hi near the top of the scoring charts, but he was not the only player who caught the eye for the Toffees this weekend.
Idrissa Gana Gueye provided a fine performance once again that attracted plenty of praise from supporters on social media, who were quick to take to Twitter to express their delight after another combative midfield performance.
Selected as one of three nominees by Everton for the club’s Man of the Match award, alongside defender Michael Keane, Gueye finished second in the poll behind match-winner Richarlison but on another day he could have certainly finished at the top.
Responding to the poll, many fans praised the midfielder and we have gathered some of the best reactions below.
Gueye was head an shoulders above everyone, allowed everyone else to do what they do

Well taken two goals by Richarlison but @IGanaGueye was unbelievable today. Made so many tackles and interceptions. Absolute tank. Great game blues.

Keane’s passing from the back was outstanding today. He looks a much better player. Night and day from last season. Gana was all over the place… class display!
