Some Everton fans have taken to social media to urge Director of Football Marcel Brands to sign Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.

The £31.5million-rated midfielder has been a mainstay of the Clarets first-team under head coach Dean Smith since securing their return to the Premier League, with Grealish starting each of his 19 appearances to date.

He missed fixtures at home to Liverpool and on the road to Wolverhampton Wanderers in November after suffering a calf injury during a 3-0 loss to Manchester City, but has not missed a minute of top-flight action since.

Smith also called on Grealish to start the Villans’ Carabao Cup Semi-Final First Leg draw with Leicester City on Wednesday night, and the 24-year-old would put on a show that has seemingly dazzled some Toffees supporters.

Grealish featured from the left-wing in a front three partnering Anwar El Ghazi and Trezeguet at the King Power Stadium, and would record 51 touches having enjoyed a 3.4 per cent share of the total possession, per WhoScored data.

The Birmingham-born Villa product also registered one key ball after playing 25 accurate passes from 31 attempts, and would beat his marker with one of four attempted dribbles, win two of four aerial duels and take possession with his only attempted tackles.

Would you back Brands signing Grealish?

Grealish did not attempt a shot on Kasper Schmeichel’s goal on Wednesday night, but has scored eight times and been credited with six assists in all competitions this season – no Villa player has more than the 5 ft 8 playmaker’s six goals or five assists in the Premier League.

Villa Chief Executive Christian Purslow sent a warning to any sides interested in Grealish back in November stating that his club will not be forced to sell their star players, amid links with long-term admirers Tottenham Hotspur.

Here are some of the messages shared as Everton fans urged Brands to fight Purslow’s resistance and sign Grealish for Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees…

In other Everton news, the club have sounded out the chances of signing a £40.5m-rated striker, who’s scored 21 goals in 22 games this season.
