Sam Allardyce has revealed that he knew he was going to be sacked two months before he actually was by Everton last season.

The former Bolton and Blackburn manager joined us after Ronald Koeman left, of course, and was always going to struggle to win us all over thanks to his playing style.

The Blues, of course, did look set to keep him for this season too – thanks to the length of his contract – but after a while that deal went south and Marco Silva became the man we wanted.

Speaking to Goals on Sunday, too, Allardyce revealed he was well aware of the impending decision far before it even happened.

He said:

“I went to Everton, not to do a ‘save me’ job, but to go and build a big club like that to greater things.

“With good finances behind it, which has been what Everton have been short of for a number of years, would’ve been the right way but it was not to be. In the end, I knew I was leaving about two months before I left.”

It was always likely that he would go and as soon as Silva was sacked by Watford it became even more clear that it was a matter of when and not if.

Now, then, let’s all move on from his brief tenure in charge.
