“Flashes Of Very Good Skill, But Not Often Enough” – Former Everton Gaffer Wants This Player To Kick On

|

Former Everton manager Sam Allardyce has been back on the media circuit imparting his wisdom, and this week he’s suggested that Ademola Lookman needs to kick on to reach his peak talent, as at the moment he’s not a better option for current gaffer Marco Silva.

Having seriously impressed at League One level with Charlton Athletic, Everton were convinced to shell out £10million for his services back in 2017, and we’ve undoubtedly seen the flashes of the kind of talent the kid has, but we haven’t seen consistency yet – but at only 21-year’s old that understandable as consistency is in many ways, the final thing to click in a players’ development. How much the summer shenanigans with RB Leipzig factor, is probably open to debate.

Speaking to Talksport this week, Allardyce explained that he agreed with his recent lack of game time as he needs to be producing more regularly for us.

“Is Lookman better than Theo Walcott? Well, not quite yet. He’s got great talent, but actually, when you look at his 90 minutes, there’s these flashes of very good skill, but not often enough. He’s got to prove that he can deliver on a more regular basis, and I think Lookman will get in the team on a regular basis then.”

It’s not exactly the reveal of the century here, but he is on button with what most fans will have already been thinking.
