Explained: Which highly-rated defensive-midfielder are Everton being linked with?

|

Everton aren’t short on midfielders with Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph, Morgan Schneiderlin and Tom Davies at Marco Silva’s disposal, but the Toffees may be on the hunt for another player in the engine room.

According to Sport 1, Everton are interested in Dennis Geiger and could make a move for the 21-year-old in January. Geiger has made 11 appearances in all competitions for Hoffenheim this season, making three assists.

His Bundesliga form has led to interest from Manchester City, and Pep Guardiola is believed to have made an enquiry. Everton are yet to make their interest in Geiger official and may have to pay a lofty price to land his signature.

Since rising through the youth ranks to the Hoffenheim first-team in 2016, the German u21 international has made 43 appearances, contributing eight goals. He’s created 20 chances, completed 85.8% of 31.3 passes-per-game, boasted a 100% dribble success rate and made 10 tackles & interceptions.

Where do we need to improve in January?

With three years remaining on his deal at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena, Geiger won’t come cheap. He’s highly-rated and has interest from a European giant, so Hoffenheim hold all the cards.
