Everton are in desperate need for a new centre-back as they’ve been leaking goals this season. Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate have underperformed at times too, so a new face is expected before the transfer window shuts.

Latest reports suggest the Toffees may be going down the youth route rather than signing a tried and tested player, however. According to TEAMtalk, Everton are interested in Jamie Hamilton and could battle Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa, Burnley, Brighton & Hove Albion and Fulham for his signature.
The 17-year-old broke into the Hamilton Academicals first-team this season and has made 11 appearances in all competitions. He’s already representing Scotland at u19 level and looks to have a bright future, so it’s not hard to see why Everton are interested. Scouts have been impressed watching Hamilton, so a bid may now follow.
His valuation is currently unknown, but the Accies are likely to use all the interest in their defender to drive up his asking price. Their most lucrative sale was James McArthur (£1.58m to Wigan Athletic) in 2010, so Hamilton could smash their transfer record.
