According to Birmingham Live, West Bromwich Albion are interested in Mason Holgate and will make a move for the Everton defender if they attain promotion back to the Premier League. Holgate has spent the second-half of the season at the Hawthorns after falling out of favour at Everton but has been in fantastic form in the Midlands ever since.
The 22-year-old has made 12 appearances for Albion in all competitions, scoring and creating four goals. Holgate has impressed for the Baggies this season and could give Marco Silva a selection headache upon his return to Merseyside over the summer, but he could also consider a permanent move away from Everton if he isn’t guaranteed first-team football.
West Brom are hoping to capitalise on the situation, but reports suggest Everton are unwilling to sell. Holgate’s market value is £6.3m and he currently earns £1.3m-a-year/£25k-per-week. The Midlands club won’t make a move for the defender unless they return to the top flight, however, as Holgate may be reticent to drop down a division again.
The England u21 international has made 48 appearances in all competitions for Everton, the last of which came against West Ham United on September 16, 2019.
